A Fragile Experiment . . .

With the (hopefully) continuing maturity of our republic in mind, and considering my ardent, if breathless, advocacy in defense of the rule of law and the rights of two mature adults to love as they see fit, I’m left to consider the larger question:

Have we reached that point in our common history as a nation where civic self-preservation demands that we rightly refrain from indulging our national inclination to partisanship and cynicism, they having become luxuries we can no longer afford.

This is not a call for yet another “red state” – “blue state” dichotomy. Instead, it’s a quiet contemplation into our individual roles (and responsibilities) in keeping our government honest . . . and healthy.

We are, each of us, the checks and balances . . .
