Tranny . . . the new Nigger?

The Bridge Troll weighs in on the debate

This from a recent conversation between Joy Bahar and Michelangelo Signorile . . .

" . . . If you're a transvestite, a transsexual or a transgender is it ever a complement?"

. . . if you're calling your friend a great, fabulous tranny, it's ok . . . "

Look kiddies, here's the deal - we who are, have generally struggled through an intensely complicated and quite painful process (on so many levels) to be wholly three-dimensional human beings. We do so against the backdrop of society’s ignorance, un-earned cisgender privilege and rank bigotry. Incidentally these days, coming out as gay does not even approach the social peril of coming out as trans . . . so don't even go there.

However, I do sincerely appreciate the small but not insignificant progress the Gay Community has made, of which I as a *dyke by default am a part. Yet, as regards the unique experience of coming out as trans, the above question and its answer strip our humanity from us and reduce us in nearly all cases of common usage to a cruel caricature . . . indeed to a mockery.

We're done being mocked.

The next time I hear that word used about another person there's going to be a loud argument. If you are foolish enough to address me using that word, you'll swiftly enough find my butch foot up your ass.

That clear enough for you?

*Yes, yes I know. I assure you the irony is not lost on me. I am a writer after all and irony IS my stock in trade. ;>)
