Bits of writing by which to provoke a deeper imagination . . .

On the Power of Metaphor

"You sent me a message of concentrated thought, or at the very least, of expression. It was very rich and took me time to digest with the attention it deserved . . .

. . . I’ve tried to express my thoughts that were triggered by your messages, but I get all bollixed up trying to reduce the interplay of dynamics into articulate, if not concise, statements.

We are exploring the zone between the self and society and for each of us it is uncharted territory as we haven’t been there before. Most of us are seeking the shortest route to the Orient but on the way, some of us realize we are, in fact, in a New World and we try to figure out what that means. It sounds like that’s where you are, considering the possibility of a New World and then trying to live in a world of people, who are living in a world that’s flat . . . "

We respond to it, our spirits surrender to it, and whilst on our journey in "The Un'discovered Country" we make poetry and art of what we see and more importantly, what we feel.

It is a record, a map if you will, that needs creating - for yourself, and we, your kindred.

At the end of it all, I am convinced that it could be as simple and stunning a notion as:

“All physical embodiments (and the human expression which derive from those embodiments) are malleable but consciousness is not. Some of us are "gifted" to know intimately that consciousness, which animates us - and leads us to the knowledge of who and what we truly are.”

That awareness . . . of our transformed "cyborg" nature perhaps?

It is a bracing but lonely walk and from time to time, I relish the company of a good travelling companion.

Yet, like Mary Shelley’s “monster,” will I at the end be found alone, weeping over the vestige of that which created me?

Created and left alone . . . by the force of one's own consciousness.
